ANALYSIS OF THE “SALINAS 2006” SEASON

The “Salinas 2006” Season began this year with almost 200.000 tourists which came to this, the most important “Tourist Seaside Resort of Ecuador”. The first activity that inaugurated the season was the traditional contest of “Año Viejos” which is held on the boardwalk; año  viejos are real size paper or rag dolls, which represent famous people, such as politicians, sportsmen, TV celebrities, etc, and at midnight these dolls are burned to represent that all stays in the past and that the new year will bring better days.
From the early morning people walk to the picturesque boardwalk of Salinas, for it offers an enchanting view, of which the sea and the sun are main characters. The warm coastal climate, the beaches, the aquatic sports, family strolls, and night entertainment, were the center of attraction for the hundreds of visitors, who during Carnival festivities and Easter didn’t miss the opportunity of spending some amusing time in this beautiful city, which counts with first class hotels, utilities and a variety in the gastronomy field.
Mother Nature has blessed the waters of the Ecuadorian Pacific and because of this we can enjoy one of the most beautiful spectacles of the coastal waters of Salinas: The sight of the Humpback Whales, which travel a long distance, from polar waters, to give birth in the warm equatorial waters. This spectacle of nature, can actually only be seen in this part of the planet, and this is the reason why hundreds   are interested in seeing it.

Also, you can count with low rate tourist packages, that will allow you to enjoy watching this magnificent marine miracle.

We invite you to visit us in July, August, and September, taking advantage of your children’s school vacation, especially for those who live in United States, in the Ecuadorian Sierra, and in Europe.
Salinas is waiting for you with open arms, and for those who are Ecuadorian, remember that vacationing in your own country enriches our nation.
